Public Safety
The Importance of Training New Sergeants
Promoting from within your own ranks seems like a great idea. Your department gets
a sergeant who knows the job, and the officers get a chance to promote up
the chain of command. However, once you have you promoted them what do you
do with them? Too often newly promoted sergeants are left to sink or swim as they
try to figure out how to be "The Boss" rather than now to be "A Leader."
This class explores the concept of supervisor training in Law Enforcement as a way
to increase retention, decrease liability, and prepare employees for their new
responsibilities while easing the transition from "The Officer" to "The Sergeant."
Airborne Pathogen Safety in the Workplace

and SARS are issues in any workplace that deals with the public. Airborne
Pathogens Safety in the Workplace provides employees with a a brief history of
these diseases, who is most at risk, and OSHA and CDC recommended
